If you were shopping for a healthy snack, what would you buy?  Would you pick up an energy bar or maybe a little bag of diet crackers or cookies?  Believe it or not, those can offer up to four-hundred calories and that can be comparable to a meal.  Today, dietitians tell us that a snack equals one-hundred and fifty calories, so you do the math.

If you are looking for advice on healthy snacks, consider a cup of Kashi’s high fiber cereal along with a handful of pumpkin seeds as one. Another idea for a good healthy snack is and ounce of walnuts or almonds.  You can also feel good about eating a Skinny Cow ice cream treat or a handful of red grapes, both are good choices.

If these don’t sound filling enough, then have some whole wheat toast, and the key word here is whole wheat. Add a bit of peanut butter to your toast or eat string cheese along with a piece of fruit.  Black beans rolled in a whole wheat tortilla is another healthy option and so is Greek yogurt topped with some fresh berries of your choice. It might take some thinking outside the box to get on a path to better eating, but its not hard to do.
