These cramps, whether in your toe or leg, are caused by over contraction or over shortening of muscles. They can be painful and unpleasant experiences and never to be ignored. This is used for muscle contraction and low levels of sodium and potassium along with dehydration will create a muscle cramp. You can get more calcium by eating broccoli, sardines dairy products and drinking milk. Avocado, Banana and green leafy veges are a great source of potassium. Sodium is found in a wide variety of fruit and vegetable. Experiencing pain while exercising is not a good thing. You could be overdoing it so try stretching before working out as it can prevent the discomfort of a toe or leg cramp. These cramps can also be from poor circulation from smoking or immobility. Smoking depletes your system of oxygen and thus creating leg and toe cramps.
